The entrance to the Turkmenbashi Ruhy Mosque, designed by and named for Saparmurat Niyazov, "Turkmenbashi," who died in 2006. The four minarets are each 91 meters tall, marking the year of Turkmenistan's independence from the Soviet Union. Visitors are forbidden from photographing inside the mosque, which is guarded by armed soldiers.
